'Family,' 'X Factor' top Wednesday ratings

Fox's ''The X Factor'' won three of its four half-hours among young adults Wednesday, lifting the net to a demo victory. ABC's ''Modern Family'' was again the night's No. 1 series, but the entire net's lineup returned down some after being preempted for the CMA Awards last week.According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, ''The X Factor'' averaged a 3.8/10 in 18-49 and 11.2 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., growing with each half-hour and on par with last week. In adults 18-34 (3.4/10), the music contest had its best showing for a regular episode since its premiere.At ABC, ''The Middle'' (2.9/9 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall), ''Suburgatory'' (2.8/8 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall), ''Modern Family'' (5.5/14 in 18-49, 12.9 million viewers overall) and ''Happy Endings'' (3.2/8 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) all declined from their hot showings of two weeks ago, while 10 p.m. drama ''Revenge'' (2.6/7 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall) slid the most but still held onto a share of the 18-49 lead in its hour. ''Modern Family'' was the night's No. 1 program in 18-49 and total viewers, beating the ''X Factor'' by 4 shares in the demo.CBS saw ''Survivor'' (3.3/9 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall), ''Criminal Minds'' (3.7/9 in 18-49, 12.5 million viewers overall) and ''CSI'' (2.6/7 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall) all edge up from last week when they were below average opposite the CMA Awards on ABC. ''Survivor'' edged out ''X Factor'' head-to-head in 25-54 while also winning in total viewers, and ''CSI'' tied for the 10 o'clock hour's lead in 18-49 and prevailed in both 25-54 and total viewers.At NBC, ''Up All Night'' (1.9/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) was up slightly week to week, while ''Harry's Law'' was down (1.1/3 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall) and ''Law and Order: SVU'' was flat (1.9/5 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall).CW's ''America's Next Top Model'' (0.8/2 in 18-49, 1.9 million viewers overall) was flat or up slightly in some categories week to week.Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 3.8/10; ABC, 3.3/9; CBS, 3.2/8; Univision, 1.7/4; NBC, 1.5/4; CW, 0.6/2.In total viewers: CBS, 11.5 million; Fox, 11.2 million; ABC, 8.9 million; NBC, 6.2 million; Univision, 3.9 million; CW, 1.5 million.
